Age Limit (as on 31 July 2026)

Born between: 01 May 2015 to 31 July 2017 (both dates inclusive).
Note: The date of birth mentioned in the official certificate will be considered final. In case of overage, the candidate may be referred to a Medical Board.


Educational Qualification

  • Must be studying in Class V during the academic session 2026-27 in a Government / Government-aided / recognized school.
  • Must have studied and passed Class III, IV and V from a recognized school (full academic sessions).
  • NIOS candidates with 'B' Certificate are also eligible (on or before 31 May 2027).
  • Candidate must have spent/studied full academic session in Class III, IV and V.
  • Repeaters not allowed: Candidates who have already appeared in JNVST earlier are NOT eligible.

Selection Process

  1. Written Examination (JNVST) – 2 hours objective test
  2. Provisional Selection based on merit and reservation norms
  3. Document Verification – All original certificates are verified at the respective JNV
  4. Final Admission after successful verification and submission of all required documents

Note: In case of a tie, preference is given to higher marks in Mental Ability, then Arithmetic, then SC/ST/OBC/General, then girl candidate, then younger age.

How to Apply Online (Step-by-Step)

  1. Visit the official NVS website: https://navodaya.gov.in
  2. Click on the "JNVST Admission 2027" link on the homepage.
  3. Read the prospectus carefully and ensure you meet all eligibility criteria.
  4. Click on "New Registration" and fill in basic details (State, District, Block, Aadhaar, etc.).
  5. Upload the following documents in JPG format (10-100 KB each):
    • Photograph of the candidate
    • Signature of candidate
    • Signature of parent/guardian
    • Aadhaar details / Residence Certificate
  6. Fill the complete application form carefully. Double-check all entries.
  7. Submit the application online. No fee is required.
  8. Take a printout of the final submitted form for future reference.

⚠️ Important Cautions for Candidates

  • Provisional Selection: Selection is provisional until all documents are verified.
  • No Re-evaluation: OMR evaluation is fully automated; no re-checking/re-evaluation is allowed.
  • False Information: Any fraudulent information will lead to immediate cancellation and recovery of expenditure incurred by NVS.
  • No Wait-list: NVS will not release any wait-list. Vacancies will be auto-filled through the portal.
  • Migration Policy: Students of Class IX will be migrated from Hindi to Non-Hindi speaking states and vice-versa for one year.
  • No Shifting: Admission is strictly district-specific. No request for shifting to another JNV will be entertained.
  • Correction Window: Only minor corrections (gender, area, category, disability, medium) are allowed during the correction window.
  • Admit Card: Must be downloaded from the portal. No candidate will be allowed without a valid Admit Card.
