Brief Information

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for Combined Defence Services Examination (CDS) II, 2026 for admission to Indian Military Academy (IMA), Indian Naval Academy (INA), Air Force Academy (AFA), and Officers' Training Academy (OTA). Total 451 vacancies are notified. Graduates and final year students can apply online from 20 May 2026 to 09 June 2026. Syllabus Highlights: English (Comprehension, grammar), GK (Current events, History, Geography, Science), Elementary Maths (Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, Statistics - Matriculation level).


Selection Process

  1. Written Examination (Objective Type – OMR based)
  2. SSB Interview (Stage I: OIR + PP&DT, Stage II: Psychology, GTO, Interview, Conference)
  3. Medical Examination as per Armed Forces standards
  4. Final Merit List based on Written + SSB marks (equal weightage)

Physical Standards & Tattoo Rules

Candidates must be medically fit as per "Joint Order Manual of Medical Standards for Entry into Armed Forces".
Tattoos: Only permitted on inner forearm (elbow to wrist) and reverse side of palm. Tribal tattoos on case-to-case basis.

Stipend during training: ₹56,100/- per month. Military Service Pay (MSP): ₹15,500/- pm (Lt to Brigadier). Other allowances: DA, Dress Allowance (₹20,000/year), TPTA, Children Education Allowance (₹2,250/month).


Important Instructions for Candidates

  • Negative Marking: 1/3rd mark deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Use only Black Ball Pen to darken circles on OMR sheet.
  • Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices strictly banned.
  • Entry closes 30 minutes before exam commencement.
  • No withdrawal or correction of application after submission.
  • Candidates must have valid email ID and mobile number.
  • Preference order for courses must be filled carefully (AFA as first choice, OTA as last for male PC aspirants).
  • Final year students must submit degree proof by specified dates.
