Bank of Baroda has released the official recruitment notification for Local Bank Officers (LBO) on a regular basis. A total of 2,482 vacancies are available across 20 States. PwBD reservation is horizontal and within the overall vacancies for the post. The notification identifies LD as Locomotor Disability, HI as Hearing Impaired, VI as Visually Impaired and d&e as the specified disability categories under the applicable provisions of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act.


Important Reservation Rules

  1. OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer are not entitled to OBC reservation and age relaxation.
  2. OBC candidates whose caste does not find place in the Central List are not entitled to OBC reservation and age relaxation.
  3. Eligible OBC candidates must satisfy the Non-Creamy Layer requirements.
  4. EWS reservation is available only on production of the prescribed Income and Asset Certificate.
  5. SC/ST/OBC/EWS/PwBD candidates must produce the prescribed certificates from the competent authority.
  6. PwBD reservation is horizontal and within the overall vacancies.
  7. Candidates seeking age relaxation must produce the required supporting certificates.

There will be separate timing for every section. The English Language test is qualifying in nature and its marks will not be considered in the Final Merit List.

The Bank will decide the minimum qualifying marks/percentage for each section and may waive the qualifying criteria. The Bank also reserves the right to modify the examination structure, including addition/substitution of a descriptive test or case study.


Negative Marking

For every wrong answer, 0.25 of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted. No marks will be deducted for an unanswered question.


Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

  1. Candidates must be proficient in reading, writing, speaking and understanding the local language of the State applied for.
  2. Candidates shortlisted through the Online Examination will be required to qualify the LPT, wherever applicable.
  3. A candidate failing the LPT will not be allowed to appear for Personal Interview and will not proceed further in the selection process.
  4. Candidates who studied the specified local language of the applied State as a subject in 10th or 12th standard and produce the relevant marksheet/certificate are exempted from the LPT.

Posting Location

Selected candidates will be posted within the State for which they applied for the first 12 years of service or up to their promotion to SMGS-IV Grade, whichever is earlier.

After that period, candidates may be posted by the Bank at its discretion to any branch or office of Bank of Baroda or to any place in India.

  1. Manage day-to-day banking operations including customer service, account management, cash operations, remittances and banking services.
  2. Process, appraise and administer credit proposals including retail, agriculture, MSME and other loan portfolios.
  3. Ensure proper documentation, monitoring and recovery of credit facilities.
  4. Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines, internal policies, KYC/AML norms, audit requirements, risk management and fraud prevention measures.
  5. Perform administrative and supervisory functions including staff coordination, MIS and regulatory reporting.
  6. Implement Bank initiatives and operational requirements.
  7. Drive business growth through deposit mobilisation and acquisition of new customers.
  8. Market banking products and digital services and achieve assigned business and cross-selling targets.
  9. Develop long-term customer relationships through community engagement, referrals and local market outreach.
  10. Coordinate with branch, business and operational units for efficient customer servicing.
  11. Conduct customer visits, follow-ups and relationship-management activities.
  12. Use local language proficiency and local-market knowledge to strengthen customer relationships and promote financial inclusion.
  13. Maintain professional relationships with customers, local communities and stakeholders.
  14. Perform other business, operational, administrative and customer-service duties assigned by the Bank.

Important Application Rules

Candidates serving in Government, Quasi-Government offices, Public Sector Undertakings, Nationalised Banks or Financial Institutions are required to produce a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from their employer at the time of interview.


Medical Examination

Provisionally selected candidates must undergo the prescribed pre-joining medical examination. The candidate is required to bear the applicable medical examination expenses. Joining is subject to successful completion of medical examination, document verification and other joining formalities.


Examination Centres

The Bank has prescribed examination centres in various cities. The Bank reserves the right to add, remove or modify examination centres depending on administrative feasibility and number of applications received. The final centre allotted to a candidate will be communicated through the call letter.

No request for change of examination or interview centre will normally be entertained. Candidates have to appear at the allotted centre at their own risk and expense.

Biometric & Iris Verification

  1. Biometric data such as right thumb impression or other applicable impression may be captured.
  2. Iris scan and photograph may be captured and verified.
  3. Verification may take place before the online examination.
  4. Verification may take place during GD/Interview/selection stages.
  5. Verification may take place at the time of joining.
  6. The Bank may conduct verification at any other stage as required.
  7. Refusal to participate may lead to cancellation of candidature.

PwBD / Scribe Facilities

Eligible candidates covered under the applicable PwBD provisions may receive compensatory time and other examination facilities as prescribed in the notification.

  1. Eligible candidates using a scribe may receive 20 minutes compensatory time per hour of examination, subject to applicable rules.
  2. The candidate generally has to arrange the scribe at their own cost.
  3. The scribe cannot independently answer questions or prompt answers.
  4. Visually impaired candidates meeting the prescribed conditions may receive magnified font facility.
  5. PwBD candidates must produce the prescribed disability certificate.
  6. PwBD certificates and UDID details may be authenticated or medically verified by the Bank.

Mobile Phones, Calculator & Prohibited Items

  1. Mobile phones are not allowed inside the examination premises.
  2. Pagers and other communication devices are not allowed.
  3. Calculators are not permitted in the examination premises.
  4. Candidates are advised not to bring prohibited items because safe-keeping arrangements cannot be assured.
  5. Violation of these instructions can result in cancellation of candidature and debarment from future examinations.

Unfair Means / Misconduct

Depending on the circumstances, candidates may be disqualified from the current examination, debarred from future Bank examinations and may face termination of service if they have already joined the Bank. Criminal action may also apply where applicable.


False Information / Suppression of Facts

Candidates must not submit false, tampered or fabricated information and must not suppress material facts. If incorrect information or suppression of material information is discovered at any stage, candidature may be cancelled. Even after appointment, service may be terminated according to the applicable rules.


Nationality / Citizenship

As on 01-August-2026, eligible candidates include:

  1. A Citizen of India
  2. A subject of Nepal
  3. A subject of Bhutan
  4. A Tibetan refugee who came to India before 01-January-1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  5. A person of Indian origin who migrated from the countries specified in the notification with the intention of permanently settling in India

Candidates falling under categories other than Indian citizens must produce the applicable Government of India eligibility certificate.

Qualification

Educational: Degree in any discipline from a recognized University or equivalent recognized by Central Government.

Sports Qualification (Any one):

  • Represented State/UT/India in National/International competition; OR
  • Medal winner in Junior National Championships; OR
  • Medal winner in Khelo India Youth Games (age >18)/Winter Games/Para Games/University Games; OR
  • Medal winner in School Games Federation of India (SGFI); OR
  • Represented State/UT School Team in National Sports/Games for schools conducted by All India School Games Federation.
