Brief Information

The National Testing Agency (NTA) on behalf of UGC has released the official notification for UGC‑NET June 2026. This test determines eligibility for (i) Junior Research Fellowship & Assistant Professor, (ii) Assistant Professor & PhD admission, and (iii) PhD admission only. The exam will be held in CBT mode for 86 subjects (new subject: Statistics). Online applications are open from 29 April 2026 to 20 May 2026. Candidates with a Master’s degree (55% for General, 50% for reserved) can apply.

Age Limit

For JRF: Maximum 30 years as on 22 June 2026 (relaxation: up to 5 years for SC/ST/OBC‑NCL/PwD, 3 years for OBC‑NCL).
For Assistant Professor / PhD admission: No upper age limit.


Qualification

Master’s degree (or equivalent) from a recognised university/institution with at least 55% marks (for General/EWS) or 50% marks (for OBC‑NCL/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender). Candidates appearing in final year of Master’s or awaiting results are also eligible.
